Why?
Long Waiting Hours: over 200,000 NHS 111 calls revealed that 92% of cases didn't require immediate medical attention, leaving patients waiting.
Staff Shortage: A global issue, particularly in Greater Munich. 600 positions are unfilled and 80,000 doctors are over 60, leading to practice closures.
Accessibility: Online appointments are crucial for the elderly (who are isolated), remote areas, and patients with mobility issues.
User Needs Analysis
User's need for symptom checker like AIDY's Health Concierge, offering instant guidance and reassurance via voice chat. Our system doesn't recommend, prescribe, or diagnose—just relays chat info using an LLM, like a practice receptionist but more accurate.
Burnout—especially among young, female, part-time GPs—is affecting care quality (according to the Family Practice Journal). Medical students like Peter Schreiber support AI to reduce bureaucracy and improve outpatient care.
COVID-19 highlighted the importance of digital consultations, ensuring the elderly receive timely healthcare from home. This approach also benefits doctors by allowing them to manage their time and reach a broader patient base.
